Notitie |
Hendrik I van Gelre (between 1117 and 1120 - between 27 May and 10 September 1182 ) was Count of Gelre .
dern and Wassenberg , in 1138 he inherited his mother's county Zutphen . Hendrik had good relations with the Archdiocese of Cologne and Emperor Frederik I of Hohenstaufen . As a result, he expanded his position throughout the area of Friesland to the Meuse with a number of shredded assets. He was therefore in trouble with the bishops of Utrecht, Liège, Münster (city) and Paderborn (city) , and with the abbey of the Corvey Abbey . That's why Hendrik concluded a covenant with the city of Utrecht but had to resign under Dutch pressure.
trong> Hendrik died in 1182 and was succeeded by his son Otto I. He was buried in the cloister Kamp .
as a son of Gerard II van Gelre and Ermgard van Zutphen . He married (about 1135) with Agnes van Arnstein (about 1130 - before <1179), Arnstein's inheritance daughter. They received the following children:
Gerard van Gelre died shortly before his father and buried in Zutphen. Married to Ida from Boulogne in her second marriage, but they did not have children.
Otto , successor to his father
Agnes, married in 1168 with Count Hendrik I van Namen . She left Hendrik and pulled into a monastery, despite his appeal to Pope Alexander III . Eventually a reconciliation was mediated between Agnes and Hendrik, by Count Filips of Flanders and the Archbishop of Cologne. Hendrik had no heirs and it was desirable for these gentlemen to inherit an inheritance because another Count Baudouin IV of Hainaut would inherit his possessions. Agnes and Hendrik eventually got a daughter. Agnes was buried in Echternach .
Adelheid (left after 1212), married to Count Gerard van Loon before 1179
Margaretha , married to Count Engelbert I van Berg (-1189)

|
